The BVSD Information Literacy Scope and Sequence is designed to ensure that all students and staff are effective users of tools, ideas and information to meet the content standards and objectives in BVSD's curriculum. We have designed this Scope and Sequence to prepare our students to succeed as twenty-first century graduates (preparing them to thrive in a global, high-tech, information-rich society.)
BVSD employs an integrated approach in the teaching of information literacy skills. This means that Information literacy (IL) skills do not stand on their own but are a subset within the curriculum. IL should be directly connected to vital academic priorities and should be delivered primary through authentic, real-world tasks. All instructional efforts to meet or exceed the BVSD Information Literacy Scope and Sequence will be completed in partnership by classroom teachers, teacher-librarians, interventionists and building leaders.
